Crytek: Crysis 2 needs 90+ score to make an impact

Crytek executive producer Nathan Camarillo has said he believes the studio’s latest game, Crysis 2, needs review scores to average over 90 percent if the game is to make an impact.
EA Partners boss David DeMartin’s recently commented that the game would easily average over 90 percent on Metacritic, and in response to this Camarillo told CVG:
“We’re going to put out the best game that we can make and that’s probably over a 90 rated, although it’s up to the reviewers obviously. I hope he didn’t jinx us.”
Camarillo went on to say that review scores are very important to any company, and those who don’t make the 90 mark are less likely to make an impact.
“I think you have to be 90 plus to make an impact in any genre now. The quality bar is so high and publishers and developers have put so much effort against high quality games.”
“If you want to be recognised at all, regardless of genre, like anything you need to create the highest quality product possible and anything else is not going to get noticed.”
Crysis 2 is due to release on March 25 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Pre-order the limited edition here for the standard price.

And in other PC Gaming news…

Hooray! It’s Friday. A great day for doing our favourite things: playing and reading about PC Games. But you already know because you’ve read all the news posted today, along with our Deus Ex: Human Revolution Previewand our first impressions of DC Universe Online right? Good. The world of PC Gaming doesn’t relent. It’s a virile place packed with strong opinions. And we respect them all. Every one.

But enough about other people’s irrelevant opinions. You came here for condensed PC Gaming news. It’s waiting for you after the jump.
In more localised news, I’ve been playing Team Fortress 2 with Tim, who was making a concerted effort to be extra mean to every player on the opposition, Tom Senior has been indulging in some hack and slash fun in Darksiders and Rich has been revelling in the glorious memories of “dominating chumps on our TF2 server last week”. Oh, and it’s the lovely Craig’s birthday today – Tweet him some gentle Birthday wishes if you think he’s as special as we do.
What’s your favourite story of the day? Do you refute the claim that Rich could ever dominate a TF2 server? Prefer offering birthday wishes via comments threads? Let us know…

Crysis 2 (Multiplayer) - Capture the Flag bestätigt!

A big thanks goes to our mate Mocib from inCrysis.com woh has sent us the link. THANKS!

Concept Art by Ágnes Staudt: Unfinished Crytek Project

Here's a gallery of some fantastic concept art made by former Crytek Concept Artist Ágnes Staudt. These artworks, created for what looks to be a fantasy game of sorts, are from 2009 while Ágnes was still working at the Crytek Budapest studio. Since it is Crytek Budapest we are talking about here one could speculate that this might have something to do with Codename: Kingdoms.
concept art and with the last scene seen in the GDC 2009 CryEngine 3 trailer.

Ágnes also created magazine cover art for Crysis Warhead, the Crysis spin-off starring Sergeant 'Psycho' Sykes.

Who's Claiming They Have The 'Avatar' Of 3D Video Games?

Who's Claiming They Have The 'Avatar' Of 3D Video Games?

Crysis 2 makers Crytek are, saying that they've created "a benchmark 3D implementation" with their upcoming sci-fi shooter, one they're likening to James Cameron's billion dollar blockbuster Avatar. But what does James Cameron think?
According to an interview with Crytek's Cevat Yerli in the Edge magazine, Cameron loveshim some Crysis 2, having gotten a peek at the first-person shooter running in 3D. Yerli believes that "[Cameron's] eyes are trained for 3D more than anyone else's, and that makes me confident that we have a super-high-end 3D experience on all formats."
I wonder if the makers of Avatar: The Video Game take issue with Yerli's opinion of his own game.
Crysis 2 will release on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late March, so we can experience this stereoscopic 3D benchmark for ourselves.
